How Long Does Probate Take?

Each estate is different, but a typical timeline looks like this:

  • 4–6 weeks to gather required information
  • 8–10 weeks for the Probate Registry to issue the Grant once the application is submitted
  • 20+ working days for HMRC to process inheritance tax forms (if applicable)
  • If inheritance tax is due, we’ll submit the required forms and arrange payment before applying for the Grant.
